Or What Not to Do! If the photo isn’t the right size, don’t stretch it to fit! Or how about this, hire a professional photograher to showcase your house to it’s best advantage. I’m pretty sure this microwave is NOT 4′ x 1′. But it does look like a slimline in this photo doesn’t it?

The standard Thai dish is Pad Thai – and its a good place to start if you’re unfamiliar with the menus items. My favorite entree is Vermicelli. It’s more like a salad, rice noodles, grated carrots, cucumbers, grilled pork and a refreshing sauce that gets mixed in. This is the best summertime meal, but satisfying all year-round.We also had a bowl of Yellow Curry when we ate there this week. Both were delicious!Hope you give Cafe Fusion a try. And if you can’t decide what to order – give Bob a call. He’ll give you his recommendations. Better yet- talk real estate and food – two of his favorite topics!Cafe Fusion (515) 262-8488 1240 E. 14th St. Des Moines, IA
The National Association of Realtors statistics show that now 99% of buyers are using the inter-net to search for their next home. That is why it is paramount that listing photos showcase your house at it’s best. We all know, there is no second chance for a first impression. Every Friday we’ll be highlighting some of the photos that are currently on our local MLS that do the opposite. No names will be mentioned in order to protect the innocent! But we will tell you the Eisenlauer Team would NOT use these photos and what could be done differently in order to achieve the goal of selling the house. Here’s our first photo. It is new construction and the caption says “Exterior Front: Breaking ground now and putting foundation in! Pick your options now! Wonder what options these guys are picking! How long would it take to wait till the lunch break is over?

Our family has always loved to try small ethnic restaurants. We have a rule when traveling – No Franchise. We try to do business with local “mom & pop” businesses whenever possible – and eating out is no exception. There has been a Mexican restaurant at 1704 E. Grand for as long as I can remember. We have eaten there often. Although the location stays the same – the owner, decor and menu may change. Right now it is the location of Taqueria Jalisco. It has a simple decor and menu – walk up to the counter and order. They have photos of the food if you’re not adept at Spanish. I recommend the Burrito with Asada. It’s big enough to split! It comes with sliced radish, a wedge of lime and a grilled jalapeno. Give it a try – and while you’re at it, have a glass of cold horchata or rice milk. The phone number is 262-0102. And while we’re on Mexican food – this weekend is the Latino Festival. It’s downtown on the bridges. Sure to be some new foods to try there.

Comfort Cuisine – just the title makes you want to pull up a chair and dine with Uncle Mike. Located in a remodeled building on 6th Ave, Uncle Mike’s serves a simple, delicious and home-made menu of Bar-B-Que items. We had a Crush sandwich – Beef brisket and pulled pork on an open-face bun. For a side I chose – potato salad. It was creamy and a bit on the bland side for me. The sandwich – delicious and enough for two meals. Bill had a Southerner – a pulled pork with bar-b-cue sauce on open-face bun topped with cole-slaw, side of greens – all excellent. The decor is simple and clean, the staff friendly and courteous. If you like sweet potato pie and peach cobbler – I’ve been told they’re the best! We’ll be back.
